Landscape Design in Amarillo, TX
“Designing a project on paper enhances the customers experience and expectations. Also allowing a non-visual person to see the project in a completion phase.”
Stevon Cole, ownerYour yard, drawn before it is built
Landscape design with Cole Landscaping & Pools starts with a visit to your yard. We walk the space with you, listen to how your family wants to use it, and measure the lot, the house, and anything already in place, including an existing pool or turf.
Then we draw the plan on paper: where the pool sits, where turf runs, where planting beds, rock, and boulders go, and how lighting and paths tie it all together. The drawing lets you see the finished yard before any work begins, even if reading plans is not your strength.
Next comes revising. You look at the plan, tell us what feels off, and we change it until it matches what you pictured. Only then does the work start. We design for homes in Amarillo, Canyon, Bushland, Hereford, Dumas, and Pampa across the Texas Panhandle.
What a design covers
- 01
Pool placement and surround
Where a fiberglass pool sits on the lot, how it relates to the house, and what surrounds it.
- 02
Turf areas
Where artificial turf runs: around the pool, for play and pet areas, or as a putting green.
- 03
Planting beds and rock
The shape of each bed, what goes in it, and the rock that finishes the edge.
- 04
Boulders and dry creek beds
Where larger stone is set, and how a dry creek bed can carry the eye through the yard.
- 05
Lighting
Where low lights fall along paths, beds, and the pool, so the yard reads well after dark.
- 06
How it all connects
The paths, steps, and transitions that join the pool, turf, and planting areas into one yard.

Landscape design, answered
Do I need a landscape design before I put in a pool?
A design is not required, but a pool is easier to place well when the whole yard is planned first. For an Amarillo home, a drawing shows how the pool, turf, beds, and paths sit in relation to the house and to each other, so nothing has to be squeezed in around the pool afterward.
What does the design include?
A design covers pool placement and surround, turf areas, planting beds and rock, boulders and dry creek beds, lighting, and how those pieces connect. We draw it on paper after a site visit and measurements, then revise it with you until it matches what you want to see in your yard.
Can you design around my existing pool or yard?
Yes. During the site visit we measure what is already there, whether that is an existing pool, a patio, or established beds, and draw the new plan around it. The goal is a yard that reads as one space in Amarillo, not new features placed beside old ones.
What affects the cost of a landscape design?
The size and shape of your yard, how many features the plan includes, and how the areas need to connect all shape the work. A small planting plan differs from a full yard with a pool, turf, rock, and lighting. We do not post prices, so the simplest way to learn the cost is to request a quote.
What areas do you design in?
We design for homes in Amarillo, Canyon, Bushland, Hereford, Dumas, and Pampa, across the Texas Panhandle. If you are nearby but not on that list, tell us where the yard is when you reach out and we will let you know whether we can come out for a site visit.
