Artificial turf

What does artificial turf installation involve in Amarillo?

Artificial turf gives an Amarillo yard a clean, green surface that holds up to Panhandle sun, wind and dust without a watering schedule. Stevon Cole and his crew install turf for homeowners in Amarillo, Canyon, Bushland, Hereford, Dumas and Pampa, and every area is shaped to the way it will be used: the deck around a pool, a backyard putting green, a shaded seating area, or a play and pet yard. The work starts with the ground. A well graded, compacted base is what keeps turf flat, drains water away and prevents low spots, so we treat it as the main part of the job. Edging, tight seams and an even finish come after that. Turf also fits naturally with our fiberglass pool installation and landscape design, so the pool, the turf and the planting areas can be planned as one backyard.

The process

How we install it

  1. Grade and base

We shape the ground, set drainage and compact a firm base so the surface stays level.

  2. Edging

A clean, secure border holds the turf in place and sets the line against stone, pavers or planting.

  3. Roll out and seam

The turf is laid out, cut to the shape of the area and seamed so the joins disappear.

  4. Infill and groom

Infill is worked in and the fibers are brushed upright for an even, finished surface.

Questions

Artificial turf, answered

What affects the cost of artificial turf in Amarillo?

The size of the area and the shape of its edges are the biggest drivers, followed by how much grading and base work the ground needs, the turf product you choose, and how many seams, curves or features such as a putting green are involved. Access for equipment matters too. We do not quote without seeing the space, so use Get a Quote to start.

How do I maintain artificial turf in Panhandle wind and dust?

Keep it simple. Wind carries dust and leaves onto the surface, so an occasional brush, a leaf blower or a rinse with a hose lifts them off. Well set edging and infill keep the turf anchored when gusts pick up. Clean up spills when they happen and brush busy spots now and then so the fibers stand back up.

Is turf a good choice around a pool?

Yes, it is a popular surround. Turf drains the water that splashes out of the pool, keeps mud and dirt from being tracked back toward the water, and gives the pool area a tidy, finished look. It pairs well with a fiberglass pool installed by our crew, and we plan the base so water moves away from the pool edge.

Can you build a putting green in my backyard?

Yes. We install backyard putting greens shaped to your space, with clean edging and a finished surface, and they can sit beside a pool, in a side yard or next to a seating area. We talk through the layout with you first, and Stevon can draw the plan on paper so you can see the project before work begins.

Which areas can turf be installed in?

We install turf around pools, on patios and seating areas, for putting greens, and in play and pet areas for homes in Amarillo, Canyon, Bushland, Hereford, Dumas and Pampa. Side yards and narrow strips work as well as large open yards. Tell us how you use the space and we will recommend a layout and base to suit it.
